during a concert a young lady married to an engineer recognizes in the pianist someone he had known when he was eighteen and he was just a little boy. a deep friendship was born between the two, unknowingly then turned into love. at the new meeting the woman feels attracted to the man and becomes her lover; her husband discovers this relationship but can do nothing to oppose. the two lovers decide to leave together, but at the last moment the pianist prefers to devote himself to the career and to the commitments taken for various concerts and convinces the woman to break off the relationship. at first she agrees, but then, in despair, she takes her own life by letting herself drown in a lake.
