moonstruck (1987)

in new york, the italian-american loretta castorini, a forty-year-old with a failed marriage behind her, lives with her elderly parents. when johnny cammareri asks her to marry him, she accepts. then he leaves for sicily, where his mother is dying and instructs loretta to invite her brother ronny to the wedding. at the first meeting between loretta and ronny love is born and the two start dating. meanwhile, loretta's father, cosmo, betrays his wife rose with another woman.
