the new world (2005)

in 1607 three english ships cross the atlantic ocean in search of legendary treasures. arriving in virginia, 103 men establish the jamestown colony and captain john smith is commissioned to penetrate the forest to find supplies in the nearby village. prisoned by the indian powhatan tribe, smith is saved by princess pocahontas who teaches him the customs of his people and falls in love with him. but when the truce is broken pocahontas, banned by her father, is forced to live among the pioneers and, after being abandoned by smith, agrees to marry the aristocratic widower john rolfe, who leads her to england, to the king's court.
