a girl of humble social status is seduced by a count who does not marry her because of the strong opposition of her mother, who, as soon as a child is born, has him taken and locked up in a home, telling the young woman that the baby has died as soon as she is born . the desperate girl enters a convent and becomes a missionary nun, spending many years in africa. upon his return he learns that his seducer has died in a duel and that his son is alive, but when the meeting between mother and son is about to take place, the boy dies in an accident.
