called by the bishop of palermo to take care of the parish of a neighborhood near the city, brancaccio, where he was born, in less than two years, giuseppe puglisi had managed to build a reception center. here, assisted by a small group of young volunteers, he fought day after day to save dozens of innocent children from perdition. soon he understood that to engrave on that disintegrated fabric it was necessary to do and give more. doing and giving more meant confronting the inertia of local power: to have a sewerage system, a school, a health district, all of which brancaccio had always missed. his path inevitably leads him to come into conflict with the interests of the mafia power.
