some criminal criminals flee from a provincial asylum overnight. the alarm goes off that puts the inhabitants of a neighboring villa in a state of agitation, whose owner sees his mistress arriving with a stranger. to avoid the jealousy of his wife, he presents the two as husband and wife. during the night, however, the young man's strange attitudes suggest that he is one of the escaped lunatics. the waiter asks the direction of the asylum for help, but the three authentic madmen arrive, disguised as nurses. however, the real nurses arrive shortly afterwards and the order is restored. it also turns out that the young man is a baron who came to ask his landlord for his daughter's hand.
