beatrice cenci (1941)

while in exile in his castle in abruzzo with his family members, whom he subjected to every form of tyranny, count francesco cenci is assassinated. his body is found in a ravine, under the window of his room. thus began a process during which suspicions now fall on one, now on another family member. the greatest suspect is the daughter beatrice, the only one who decidedly opposed the paternal authority, and without proof to discharge the girl was sentenced to be beheaded. when the truth that proves the girl's innocence comes to light, the sentence has already been executed.
