caccia tragica (1947)

in emilia, in 1945, an unemployed war veteran along with some comrades, including a woman, robbed the money that a van is bringing in a cooperative and which are used to pay the rent of the land, the animals and the tools. the bandits flee taking a hostage and the peasants who see their future compromised because of their theft, hunt down the criminals. the real organizers of the crime, however, are the factors, on behalf of the owner of the land, who try to put the cooperative efforts to the smoke. eventually the veteran is captured, but the peasants, realizing that he too is a victim, let him go, throwing him at him, to show him what the road he has to go, some clods of earth.
