the shoemaker crispino is obsessed by the constant tensions that the village doctor where he lives makes him, until he obtains special miracle-working virtues from a beneficent fairy: the comare. with these means he can take a solemn revenge on the enemy and combine the marriage between a young painter and a rich marquis. on the most beautiful, the miraculous qualities vanish and the shoemaker returns to his workshop.
