de-lovely (2004)

1964, cole porter, now dying, is alone in his new york apartment. suddenly, a mysterious stranger appears, gabe, who transports porter to an empty theater, where gabe is the director of what will become the stage version of cole porter's life. all the main characters of his past appear on the stage, to stage his life: lovers, colleagues, friends, and above all his wife linda. he met her in paris in the 1920s: despite being torn between the feeling of true love he felt for linda and his passion for wild nights, drinking and handsome boys, they got married. but porter's excesses and dissipations push linda to leave him and return to paris: after a vicious horse accident that will have serious consequences for cole's health, they get back together and the artist devotes himself to writing musicals. on the evening of the premiere of 'kiss me, kate', porter is greeted by an ovation - but linda remained at home, forced by an illness that will prove fatal and that made her miss her greatest beloved triumph.
