antonio laquaglia is the stationmaster in a tiny village, reached by just one train a day. the man does everything to improve his position but, also due to personal incapacity, he cannot do it. to worsen the desolation of his useless days are added the continuous complaints of his little family that reproaches him for having ended, because of him, in a place out of the world.
