march 1941 in yugoslavia, the eve of the coup that will lead the nation to the war against italy: a young dalmatian woman who is part of the italian counter-intelligence falls into the hands of the yugoslav police as she tries to cross the border. an espionage agent from that country frees her by forcing her to help him learn from a soviet commissioner who has arrived in belgrade, a document proving secret agreements. the woman accepts and reaches her intent, but then tries to pass on this document to the italian authorities. the young agent, who is also in reality an emissary of the italian counterespionage, pretending to arrest her, takes her with him across the border, towards salvation in italy.
