don buonaparte, pastor of a small village at the top of the mountains of tuscany, came one day to learn that his nephew napoleon, having become emperor, wanted to offer him the cardinal's purple. the extraordinary news brought by a general under the command of a platoon of dragons, puts the village in turmoil provoking the initiative of freeloaders and speculators ready to exploit the situation. but the wise parish priest, after profound meditation, finds common sense and the courage to refuse the proposal, preferring to remain in his quiet little village.
