during the uprising in the congo, a community of belgian nuns is saved by a simba leader. sister maria, to treat a woman, enters the forest and is attacked on the way back and raped by some rebels. returning to her homeland she realizes she has become pregnant and the problem arises whether to renounce her child in order to preserve her vows, or to return to the lay life and bring up the unborn child.
