fedora (1942)

on the eve of the wedding with princess fedora, the young prince yariskine is assassinated. the woman, in front of the father of the killed, makes a solemn oath to avenge her boyfriend, and on the faint traces of the guilty arrives in paris. here he meets an attractive painter, his compatriot, and falls in love with him, but he is nothing but the murderer she is looking for. when he learns the true identity of man, despite his feelings for him, he denounces him. this gesture provokes the desperation and death of the painter's mother and brother, but even a hidden truth comes to light: his fiance had offended the artist's honor. desperate, the young woman would like to repair the bad deed but, in the throes of the most gloomy pain, takes her own life.
