felicità perduta (1946)

two friends, giorgio and franco, students at the conservatory, fall in love with the same girl. this chooses george and marries him. they left for a long musical tour the two are writing franco as a guide. he continues to woo his friend's wife, until he manages to seduce her. the husband, having discovered the betrayal, confronts his rival and plays a nasty trick: he pretends to have been killed and disappears from circulation. the fortuitous discovery of a corpse and some clothes of franco irreparably accuse giorgio who is arrested and deported to germany. during the journey he manages to escape and join a group of partisans. at the end of the war giorgio finds franco a pianist in a low-key venue. he kills him and seeks comfort in the arms of the unfortunate wife.
