ginevra degli almieri (1935)

in fifteenth-century florence, a young girl of excellent family and lineage, barely married to the man who was imposed on her by her father, in the throes of depression, falls into catalepsy and, believed dead, is placed in the living sepulcher. waking up, she escapes during a rainy night and goes home to ask her parents for help, but both her father and her husband believe her to be a ghost, and with a thousand spells he is chased away. the help comes only from a humble painter who grants her hospitality, but unfortunately he is not well received because he is accused by the authorities of the stealing of a corpse. the same girl will exculpate him before the judge, who declares the old girl dead and recognizes in the current young woman a new natural person who will be able to join the young painter, now free, of which she has fallen in love in the meantime.
