in the amalfi of the first world war a teacher, lover of a baron, gives birth to a child who is raised by a nurse together with her own son. many years later the two children who have grown up fall in love with the same girl, who is none other than the daughter of the baron who loves the teacher, who reveals to her son that the girl could be her sister. a few years later the truth comes out, but it is too late, because the girl consumed by the disappointing abandonment, dies unhappy.
