a count who lives in the countryside as an unrepentant bachelor receives a visit from one of his cousins ??and an ancient flame, recently married, who tells him that he has lost his husband at the arezzo railway station. the count decides to help the woman and with her he goes around far and wide for italy in search of this husband who seems non-existent. in fact it is a trick devised by the woman following a bet to make her old lover capitulate; the deception is successful and the two will get married.
