a mining engineer in america is recalled to try to save a company from bankruptcy, hoping he can find a new mineral stream in some quarries in south tyrol, which seem to be exhausted. among the general skepticism, he sets to work, without receiving help from anyone; only the daughter of the president of the company supports him in his research. among many difficulties and several heavy and almost tragic situations, the man succeeds, is acclaimed and can marry the girl he fell in love with.
