the count of almaviva is in love with rosina, whom the tutor don bartolo wants to marry to get his hands on the remainder of a dowry already partly wasted. with a deception the count enters the house of the guardian in order to kidnap the beloved girl, but is discovered and everything would go up in smoke if the barber figaro, with shrewd ability, could not combine the wedding anyway.
