The Path of Hope (1950)

a group of poor sicilians leave for work in france in search of a better future. they paid a man to cross the border clandestinely, but he tries to escape and, although he has recovered from vanni, he takes revenge by denouncing him. the group is sent back to the country, but some try to continue the difficult journey and manage to reach the goal at the cost of painful sacrifices.
