a former hussar captain travels to budapest to settle the debts accumulated by his student son. once in the magyar capital, the former officer dedicated himself to a life of debauchery with his son, squandering all the money he took with him. in the dancer whose son fell in love he recognizes an old flame. the woman declares that he still loves her and the former officer then competes with his son for the conquest of the woman. when the young man sets aside, easily consoled with another woman, the bride.
