a middle-aged italian runs a hotel in djibouti. while the clashes of the italian-abyssinian war are in progress, he learns that his son is a radio operator at a construction site on the front line in east africa and runs to meet him and convince him to return with him to djibouti. the young man does not know that his father is in league with the smugglers of arms in favor of the abyssinians, but the truth comes to the surface and then he refuses to follow his father. in the meantime the flags scanoane attack the building site and seriously injure the young man; the father, regretting his shady activities, tries to react by preventing the smuggled weapons from reaching the rebels, then joins the caravan carrying ammunition and during a battle he blows up the deposit sacrificing his life, facilitating the italian victory and ennobling the own image in the eyes of the re-established son.
