Il grande silenzio (1936)

a priest learns in the confessional the name of the culprit of a murder for which his nephew, who courts the murdered daughter, has been accused. the confessional secret prevents the priest from revealing the truth, while the clues against the young nephew become more and more insistent. finally the real culprit betrays himself and the young man, exonerated of the crime, can marry the beloved girl.
