the turks continue to besiege the famagusta stronghold, kidnap the son of the head of the venetian fleet and ransom the surrender of the city. but they find the opposition of the valiant and chivalrous 'lion of damascus' who criticizes the unfair behavior of their comrades in arms and, disgusted by this, converts himself to christianity passing in the ranks of the venetians. at the ensuing battle, the turks are defeated, the city freed from the siege and the child returned to the parents, even if the 'lion of damascus' will pay for his courageous act with his life.
