during the performance of a pochade in a provincial theater, an actor who plays the role of the lover when her husband arrives hides in a closet, from which he mysteriously disappears. a police commissioner arrives in the theater and prevents the public from going out, a tight investigation begins to get to the bottom of the incredible disappearance. in the end we discover the vanished actor disguised as a fireman; he had resorted to this stratagem to enliven the evening and to demonstrate his imagination.
