la bella addormentata (1942)

in a small town in sicily, a beautiful girl is seduced by the notary she serves. he then abandons her and the young woman ends up prostituting herself. the intervention of a young man who works in a solfatara, having become aware of the fact, is providential since he leads her to the seducer, forcing him with the wedding to repair the bad deed. but on the day of the marriage the young woman, closed in on herself, loses consciousness and dies at the door of the church, bringing with her the secret love for the young solfatar.
