la bocca sulla strada (1941)

a nobleman, after a duel, mortally wounded, leaves the job of raising his illegitimate daughter to the old and faithful concierge of his palace. he fulfills his delicate task in the best way and raises the child with attention and care worthy of a father or grandfather. many years later, in the palace, ceded by the widow to an industrialist, the young son of the latter falls in love with the presumed niece of the porter, who has become a beautiful girl. a series of circumstances prevent the two young people from fulfilling their dream of love, mainly due to the opposition of the industrialist for reasons of social class; but, when the porter reveals the truth about the noble origins of the girl, all impediments fall.
