la fornarina (1944)

in the rome of the renaissance, the young painter raffaello sanzio met a girl of the people, made him his model for the painting 'la fornarina' and became his lover. the girl also inspires some madonnas, but this relationship arouses jealousy in a beautiful aristocrat who weaves the abduction of the girl. raphael fell into a state of prostration and did his best to track down his 'fornarina' and when he found it again it was too late because, undermined physically and morally, he collapsed and led to his death on the day of the friday procession holy.
