george monroe is a solitary and eccentric man who has cultivated bad relationships with his ex-wife, with his teenage son and with all his neighbors, shocked by the fact that their californian paradise is ruined by the filthy shack in which he insists on living. loved only by his dog, his harsh way of life undergoes a turnaround the day he loses his job and discovers he is ill at the end stage. instead of closing even more in himself, he reacts to bad luck by trying to refurbish his home and also recovering relationships with family members.
