madame butterfly (1954)

the charming lieutenant pinkerton has a relationship with a japanese girl, called butterfly, from whom a child is born. the young officer is forced to leave by promising the woman that he will return, which unfortunately happens after three years. but the man arrives with an american wife and poor butterfly, desperate and disappointed, kills herself.
