hungarian, but expatriated to america at the end of the war, mike laszlo is accused of being a torturer and a murderer in the nazi-occupied budapest. the prosecution presents a long list of apparently incontrovertible testimonies; mike, on the other hand, declares himself innocent and considers the trial to be a plot due to his declared anti-communism. mike's defense is supported by his daughter ann, forced to question the image of a quiet and affectionate father. it will be a trip to budapest and the discovery, in an old carillon, of a series of photographs, to bring the truth to the surface.
