in an american upper middle class family, the elegant godfrey is hired as a waiter, who is actually a young man of high origins ruined by love. in the family he is loved by one of his daughters and hated by the other who plots to accuse him of theft. godfrey not only manages to prove his innocence, but also manages to save the landlord from bankruptcy with skilled economic operations. eventually he will found a company for the tramps he used to frequent and marry his beautiful promise.
