nella città l'inferno (1958)

a housewife, lina, ends up in jail on charges of theft. the experience is traumatic, but the proximity of egle, now at home in the penitentiary, manages to transform it. once recognized as innocent, lina comes out completely different, with a vision of life and things far removed from when she was arrested. meanwhile, egle befriends marietta, a girl who continues to dream of a different life and clings to the hope of being able to marry a man she met by watching him from the prison's crowbars. lina returns to prison and egle, surprised by his bravado, understands which and how much was his responsibility.
