mrs. flynn's four children, who have just disappeared, gather for a wake at the family home. but during the night before the funeral, everyone tries to exorcise the pain in his own way: thomas remains beside the mother's body in the chapel; michael, during a fight in a pub, is seriously injured; john tries to avenge michael with his cousin tanga; sheila, paraplegic, abandons thomas to return home, but the wheelchair stops.
