seven years in tibet (1997)

heinrich harrer is a haughty austrian mountaineer who, at the start of the second world war, organizes an expedition to climb the nanga parbat. during the climb, the expedition is captured by the inglesied soldiers so that harrer learns of the beginning of hostilities. however, he manages to escape from his prison camp with his companions. together with aufschnaiter, one of the other climbers, he crosses the himalayas. eventually the two reached lhasa, in tibet, residence of the dalai lama. a great friendship is born between harrer and the dalai lama, a boy of fourteen. meanwhile, on the borders of tibet, the chinese army is preparing to invade: an era is about to end and even the dalai lama will be sentenced to exile.
