a young woman, helen, finished her job, returning home to her boyfriend gerry, a writer. as every day you start to take the subway. but when she arrives on the docks the doors of the wagon close in front of her. at this point the story splits and proceeds on two different but parallel roads, depending on whether helen managed to take the train or not. if he gets on the car, he meets james, a young man from whom he is fascinated, and when he arrives home he discovers his partner in bed with another. if he loses the train, he is snatched and comes home when the other woman has already left.
