lisbon, summer 1938. dr. pereira, obscure chronicler of the 'lisboa', deals with the literary page of the newspaper with cautious enthusiasm. for him, a widower and in old age, the surrounding world has a somewhat blurred appearance. while the dictatorship of salazar is advancing in portugal and the threat of war looms in the rest of europe, the man of letters pereira seems to be closed forever in his ivory tower. but a meeting with two young revolutionaries, monteiro and marta, will be decisive, a couple that will put him in front of the dramatic reality of the historical moment.
