the golden madonna (1949)

the image of the madonna, painted on a painting lost during the last war, is anxiously sought by the inhabitants of a small italian town. when a rich english girl arrives in the place, the villagers hope for her financial help to carry out the research. in reality the precious relic had been used by an officer who had painted a landscape over it. girl and officer meet and return the picture to its rightful owners.
