after spending a movie night, matt and annie return home and find that their daughter has a serious ear infection and needs a doctor. at that moment the whole area is hit by an electrical blackout. matt and his wife, desperate, run to the nearest pharmacy to get their medicine. back at their home they receive a visit from joe, a neighbor, who spends the evening playing cards and drinking. suddenly, a thug enters the home.
