joan howell is an aspiring actress who, to support herself, does the cleaning in an apartment she doesn't know the owner of, one day she meets a certain tom; the two fall in love and she, taking advantage of the absence of the landlord, pretends to be the owner of the apartment and invites him into the dwelling which, incidentally, is tom's.
