marco pressi is a young manager who deals with the selection and training of personnel for the italian branch of a multinational company. he lives his work with enthusiasm, is esteemed and well-liked by everyone, but one day the heads of the company summon him to present him with a new target, mandatory and non-negotiable: if he wants to make a career he will have to lay off a third of the staff in a few weeks. if successful he will be promoted with substantial increases and bonuses; otherwise, he too will be able to say goodbye to a career and perhaps not only that. marco accepts but, as a manager warns him, he must also take into account the fact that that job will inevitably transform him 'from a nice trainer to a killer'.
