london, late 1800s. the son of a distinguished dublin surgeon and a poet, oscar wilde is full of talent and passion for literature. in 1883 he married the beautiful constance from which he had two children. a few years later, however, having achieved fame, the meeting with a young canadian made him aware of his homosexuality. but what upsets his life is the encounter, shortly thereafter, with a student from oxford, bosie, an impertinent and brilliant young man whose wilde falls madly in love with. their passionate and stormy relationship leads the writer to ruin. arrested and sentenced to two years of forced labor for sodomy, wilde returns free in 1897 and reunites with constance. but, after her death, he cannot resist the temptation to see his lover again.
