in the port of genoa, little marco is smuggled into a steamer to reach his mother in argentina, having been without news of his for a long time. although aided by generous compatriots, the boy faces minor difficulties, but his efforts are not successful. he does not lose heart and through clues and indications he travels almost all over the immense country until he arrives in the house where his mother lives, who is sick and in very serious conditions. however, the presence of the young child is an important medicine for the woman, as a great hope, and gradually she gets better. so mother and child can leave argentina and return home.
