an engineer married a former russian princess who had her husband killed in a railroad fight. the woman has become a diva of the cinema, appreciated and contended, but not loved because of her tyrannical and bizarre character. during the making of a film, a prince's comedy, he leaves the set, seriously messing up the producers, the director and the workers. the producer finds by chance a double of the diva, employed as a simple worker, and convinces her to replace the capricious star in the film and in her private life. upon learning of the facts, the diva returns home repentant, but she also learns that her first husband is not at all dead and therefore she is no longer a widow and that the marriage with the engineer is not valid. it will be his double to benefit from everything and to marry the engineer of which, meanwhile, he has fallen in love.
