i magliari (1959)

tribulations of a small group of neapolitans who live in germany selling fabrics. the illusion of freedom, identified in self-employment, and of well-being soon clashes with the awareness of an even more humiliating exploitation, including that of feelings for one of them. in the end they will all feel defeated, and even more so mario, who also found the strength to refuse the love and money of the rich merchant mayer's wife.
