luisa and enrichetta are two young girls who have grown up together and consider themselves sisters, although in reality they are not: enrichetta's father had found little luisa abandoned on the threshold of a church, had picked her up and grown up and loved as a second daughter. unfortunately, luisa grew up blind and, after her father's death, enrichetta took her to paris to visit her and, possibly, to work so that she could regain her sight. just arrived in the city, sun and helpless, suffer the adversities of fate: enrichetta is kidnapped by a libertine marquis and luisa happens in the hands of an evil beggar who hopes to make money by exploiting the piety of the people towards the poor blind girl. after various misfortunes, enrichetta, having escaped her cumbersome admirer, meets a gentleman who falls in love with her and helps her in the search for the poor maid. after other sufferings the two girls will meet again, the wicked will pay their offenses, enrichetta will marry her knight and luisa, after the operation that will restore her sight, will also find her real mother.
