charlie is a quiet rhode island cop who lives a happy love affair with his wife. when she decides to leave him, escaping with the black limousine driver rented on their wedding day, charlie, instead of rebelling, continues a quiet existence, growing up the three colored twins resulting from the adulterous relazaione of the ex wife. but the repressed pain explodes fifteen years later, giving life to hank, an irascible alter ego of the submissive charlie. schizophrenia starts to become problematic when charlie and hank fall in love with the beautiful irene, a mysterious woman escaping from the police.
