ernesto, a well-known painter, separated from his wife irene and father of little leonardo, learns from a vatican messenger that they want to beatify his mother killed by another son, egidio, actually a psychopath. ernesto is struck by the news, not only because he was kept in the dark about everything from his family who cynically hopes for the material advantages of the beatification, but also because the story contrasts with his world as an artist and a free and atheistic man. in just a few hours, pressures to participate in the process are accentuated, causing conflicts to explode and memories re-emerging that force him to rework the past and live the present differently.
